Krapihovi restaurant

Genuine, Finnish five season setting Restaurant Krapihovi cherishes and creates Finnish food tradition in an idyllic villa-milieu. The pearl grey, green framed main building was built in 1883 to be state councillor Sourander’s summer villa and the main building of Krapi estate. The corridors and rooms of the restaurant were renovated in July 2019 to preserve the soul of the house.

Modern banquet tables are like all of Finland’s fields, forests and aqua terrains in one – or several! – charming meals. The table’s legs stand firm upon tradition’s foundational stone – high quality food assortment strives toward the future. The banquet table is a piece of Finland at its best.

Krapihovi’s dining table serves seasonal tastes in an authentic farmhouse environment right next to the capital. Celebrating at a generous banquet table is really today’s thing: freedom to choose and permission to fill a plate of Finland’s best. Hors d’oeuvre selected and prepared with thought are displayed for the guests; and through these delicacies, made from the raw ingredients provided by small local farms, your mind and palate meet.

The story of Krapihovi’s kitchen is built upon the seasonal changes and pure Finnish ingredients from the earth, sea and forest. In the courtyard we have our own smokehouse, meat carving house and bakery.

Every item put on each plate is hand-made and prepared with extra care. In Krapihovi, we serve a genuine, Finnish, hand-made setting. A delicious story of Finland.

The three settings of the dining room, breakfast, lunch and dinner, are all made with Krapi’s dining experience to showcase Finland’s food traditions to the world.

Opening hours

From 9th of Jan to 20th of Jun 2024:

  • On weekdays between 11:00 – 23:00
  • On Saturdays between 12:00 – 22:00
  • On Sundays and bank holidays closed
  • Restaurant Krapihovi will be closed from 20th of June to 13th of August due to a renovation of the facade. Summer restaurant Mankeli is open daily.

Summer is all green. In the garden herbs and wild green things grow and season our plates. From June until the end of August table is set with Finnish fish and garden’s delights not to forget smoked meat.

The story of Krapihovi’s kitchen is built upon the seasonal changes and pure Finnish ingredients from the earth, sea and forest. In the courtyard we have our own smokehouse, meat carving house and bakery.

In Krapihovi, we serve a genuine Finnish setting. Every item on your plate is hand-made and prepared with extra care.

All of our products are lactose-free. Also glutein-free and vegan dishes are available.

Krapi’s house wines

Cantina Zagganini- wines have received wide international acknowledgement.
The owner of the vineyard, Marcello Zaccagnini, and oenologist Concezio Marulli, personally take care of producing these high-quality wines. Zaccagnini is a family business established in 1978 in Bolognano village of the Abruzzo region. In the beginning, the vineyards were merely a one hectare field while the wine was made in a small barn. Nowadays, the winery consists of modern facilities and over 150 hectares of beautifully, well-maintained fields. The arts play a large role in the estate. Marcello Zaccagnini’s oldest son, Simone Zagganini, is an artist. Their core belief is that wine and arts reveal the secrets of living.

Krapi’s Rye-bread

Story of Krapi’s rye-bread is a trip of centuries. The bread is still baked with the same ancient sourdough levain that has travelled in Holma’s family from generation to another. The levain rests in an old wooden container and is brought back to life a couple times a week to rise and ferment the dough.

Nowadays the bread is baked with the organic flour of Helsingin Mylly. The mill is located in Järvenpää and the rye for the flour comes from local farms. Krapi’s rye-bread is genuine Finnish local food in its most noble form.
